OUR PROGRAM
|
UTFI partners with Burnt Orange Productions, LLC to provide
internship opportunities for UT students on feature films. Based
in the
College
of
Communication
,
UTFI’s internships frequently lean on skills taught in
CoC classes, but students from all disciplines are encouraged
to apply.
All UT students who are eligible to enroll for internship credit as part of their
program of work are able to participate. In addition to the Radio-TV-Film
department, our interns have come from Theater and Dance, Architecture, Law,
Business, Music, and others.
This unique internship program is structured to give students the opportunity
to grow as their experience grows. Undergraduates and graduates can serve
as part time interns (link to Intern/Apprentice), learning the ropes on set and
in the office and getting their feet wet in a department that interests them;
full time interns and apprentices (link to Intern/Apprentice), who work as regular
crew members, have greater responsibility and often serve as an assistant in
a department; and finally as department heads (link to Our Interns) on “homegrown
pictures (link to RTF 396/368),” making creative decisions and running
their own crews. UTFI encourages students to take more than one internship
to expand their understanding of the filmmaking process and/or to deepen their
understanding of an individual craft.
Although pre-production of the films does not always organically fit with the
Fall, Spring, and Summer registration periods, UTFI strives to give students
enough information to plan their semesters. This site is updated as information
becomes available to keep students informed about what positions are available.
