DANCE WITH THE ONE

An Austin-based neo-noir thriller in the tradition of the
Coen brothers’ Blood Simple.

Synopsis: Nate wants nothing more than to run away with Nikki, the love of his life. But ever since Nate's mother died, his hippie father, Owen, and his brother, Sitter, have depended on him for everything. Worse, Nikki's father, Bobby, wants Nate to keep dealing drugs for him and let Nikki go off to college. When a million dollars of Bobby's hash is stolen from under Nate's nose, Bobby holds both Nate and Owen responsible. Father and son must track down the thief before they are, in turn, hunted down by Roy, Bobby’s proactive, remorseless 'lawyer.' In every life, when you lie for love, loyalty collides with loss, and things, true to Austin’s nature, “get weird.”

A full crew of students from across the UT campus will make this film during the summer session via RTF 368 and RTF 367K Classes. The classes will run from June 5th – August 12th.

We are accepting applications for all positions immediately. TAships and stipends will be available for key crew positions.

We are extending the deadline for submitting materials {resume/reel/portfolio, etc.} until 5pm, Monday, April 28th.

A PDF of the script is available upon request by emailing Bryan Sebok @ utfi@mail.utexas.edu. Please read it closely, so as better to shape your ‘take’ on the material when you ‘pitch’ to be involved in the project. We will be scheduling ‘pitch sessions’ to take place between Monday, April 28th and Monday, May 5th.

STUDENTS MUST BE ENROLLED FOR CREDIT OR THE EQUIVALENT.
GRADUATE AND UNDERGRADUATE CREDIT IS AVAILABLE.
