Producing Trailers For Online Markets
A Demonstration Project with The University of Texas
College of Communication And Walt Disney Publishing Group
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Dr. Bryan Sebok will offer a practicum in online marketing, with a specific
focus on innovation in the field of book advertising. The goal of the
course is to create three "book trailers" which will be used by
Disney Publishing Group in all forms of digital media in order to
drive book sales.
The way we get information has changed dramatically due to the
Internet and digital media. This is especially true for younger
readers. Increasingly, the best way to reach teens and tweens is
through web sites, blogs, downloads, mobile phone content, social
networking sites, or e-mail newsletters. Book trailers are a new
approach to reaching this demographic; similar to movie trailers,
book trailers present younger readers with a dynamic audio/visual
experience that encourages engagement while dramatizing the subject
matter.
Disney Publishing Group will choose three books for which students
will shoot and edit trailers. Executives from Disney will provide
feedback and insight into the nature and structure of this industry
throughout the semester.
